Vets Council Is Organized

The following article appeared in the Missoulian Centennial issue on page 27 of Section E.

The United Veterans Council, chartered in 1959, attempts to ally the veterans organizations of Missoula County by solving veteran and dependent problems.

The council also coordinates the veteran organizations in promoting and working for various community services. As early as 1935 a temporary organization of a Veterans Council had been formed in Missoula. This council included representatives of both veteran and auxiliary organizations.

The present council commanded by W. J. Balaun, consists of representatives from the American Legion, Spanish-American War veterans, World War I veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Amvets, Disabled American Veterans and the Associated Veterans Relief Board.

Officers are Belaun, commander; Raymond Spratt of the VFW, senior vice commander; George Wells of the Spanish-American War Veterans, a junior vice commander, and Herbert Kruger of the VFW, publicity.
