The Light Is On – Electricity from Blackfoot River at Bonner – 1896

The Light Is On.

Blackfoot River Energy Turned Into Electricity.

The electric light, transmitted over the new line of the Missoula General Electric Light company from Bonner, was tested yesterday afternoon. All the arc and a portion of the incandescent lights will be given a trial tonight when it is expected the result will be as satisfactory as the trial test yesterday afternoon. The company has spared no pains or money to make the new plant one of the most substantial and complete electric light plants in the Pacific northwest. All the power is made by water at the new plant at Bonner, which is conceded to be one of the most perfect plants of its kind in use today. After the electricity is generated it is conveyed by wires into Missoula without fear of being shut off by a lack of power at the generating point on account of high water or other obstacles which have beset the old plant on the island.
