Hoo – Hoos Here In 1927
The Missoula – Bonner Hoo – Hoo Club, the fraternal order of lumbermen, originated in 1927, was dissolved in 1940, and was reactivated Dec. 14, 1951. The reactivation was through the promotion of H. F. (Jack) Root of the Anaconda Co. and A. W. Olson and A. L. Riefflin, both of the Missoula White Pine Sash Co. H. G. Johnson of the Lumberman’s Employment Service was designated secretary – treasurer.
At present the Missoula – Bonner Hoo – Hoo Club has 110 members, locally, and the aims and purposes of the club are to promote understanding and fellowship among those engaged in the forest products industry. It is the largest single industry fraternity in existence.
The club unites all facets of the forest products industry, and has carried on various projects such as wood promotion, youth work and safe driving among its members. This year’s project is sponsorship of a National Forest Products Week, which will be in the fall.
Officers are R. E. Stermitz of the Intermountain Lumber Co., president; Tim Fleming of the Missoula White Pine Sash Co., vice president, and M. J. Sullivan of the Intermountain Lumber Co., secretary.
