Forest Supervisors Gather at Headquarters

Most of these men were active in Forest Service regional work during the 1920-1940 period of the federal agency’s activities here. This picture was taken during a forest supervisors’ meeting at Region 1 headquarters in January 1942.

CCC Youths Plant Ponderosa Pine

 

A crew of Civilian Conservation Corps boys plant Ponderosa pine along Butler Creek on the Lolo National Forest in 1938. Most of the boys were from Ohio and New York. The CCC helped build many miles of truck trails in the region. (Photo by K. D. Swan, Forest Service)
