Firemen Soak Smoking Ruins of High School

This is the rear of the Missoula County High School plant on South Higgins avenue, showing the wall of the new south wing auditorium in the left foreground and the location of the 7,000 volume library at right in the north wing where the old auditorium had been located. Firemen continued to pour water into the smoking ruins for many hours.

New High School Wing Gutted by Fire

In the foreground is what was left of the new south wing of Missoula County High School after fire gutted the structure on Sept. 15, 1931. Although the roof and interior of the huge structure were demolished by the raging fire, most of the brick walls remained standing and some were used in rebuilding.

High School Reconstructed in 1932

This is how the new Missoula County High School looked when students began the 1932-1933 school year, just about a year after the disastrous fire. The new building had a flat roof in contrast to the old hip-roofed structure.
