Missoula Gets New Lights During 1912

Missoula installed street lights in the business section in 1912 which gave four times the amount of light given by the five-light tungsten post cluster which were used in other cities in Montana and places like Minneapolis, Spokane and Seattle.

The lamps gave actual candle-power of 1,700 and consumed about 600 watts of electricity. The five-light tungsten lighting gave 400 c.p. and consumed about 500 watts of electricity.

The new lights created a mild sensation in the Garden City and were the talk of the town for weeks.
