In Territorial Days

This was how West Main street looked from Higgins avenue about 1888, the year before Montana became a state. At right foreground is the brick building housing the Worden & Co. store which was constructed in 1871 on the corner later occupied by the D. J. Donohue Co. building and now by Montgomery Ward Co. In left background is the City Hall constructed in 1887. The two-story building on the right is the Times building used by the Daily Missoulian at that time. Later it moved across the street.
