Missoula’s Quota of Liars – 1900
This office is in receipt of an interesting library of three volumes entitled “Report of the Committee on Privileges and Elections of the United States Senate Relating to the Right and Title of William A. Clark to a Seat as Senator from the State of Montana.” Aside from its national importance, the work is also of great local interest inasmuch as throughout its numerous pages is revealed the fact that Missoula furnished its more than usual quota of liars who, for a consideration, proceeded to Washington to assist in the purification of Montana politics.
