Gambling Tables Are Closed By Sheriff

In Midnight Raid Officers Put The Lid On All Games In The City

Shortly after midnight this morning members of the sheriff’s force completed a thorough raid on every place in town where it was thought gambling was going on, and all games are now closed. In four places, the Rochester pool room, the Atlantic hotel, the Exchange saloon and the Workingman’s hotel, games were found running, the officers say and in others warnings were given before officers arrived. They were all visited however, and ordered to remain closed. A list of players were taken in each of the four places found open and $200 in money and cards and chips were confiscated.
