John M. Evans
John M. Evans, one of the leading members of the bar of Missoula county, is a representative of one of the pioneer families of Montana . . . He served as a member and chairman of the Democratic county central committee, and from 1889 until 1894 he served as police judge of Missoula, in 1894 he was appointed register of the United States land office at Missoula in which office he served four years . . . On June 11, 1889, Mr. Evans wedded Miss Helen G. Hastings, who was born in California and their two children are Beverly P. and John M., Jr.

Evans went on to a successful career as a U. S. Congressman from Montana from 1913 to 1933, missing one term in 1922.
