Supplies, Jumpers Dispatched From Depot
Supplies and fire fighters are dispatched by air from the Aerial Fire Depot and Smokejumper Center west of Missoula. Average time from receipt of a call for jumpers until they are airborne is just over 17 minutes. Supplies for ground crews are also stored and dispatched at the depot. Northern Forest Fire Lab Under Construction
This is an architect’s drawing of the Northern Forest Fire Laboratory being constructed west of the city. The laboratory will be used in the study of forest fire problems across the nation and on special fire problems in the intermountain West and Alaska.
