Hotel Florence Burns on Sept. 24, 1936
These two views show some of the damage done Sept. 24, 1936, when Hotel Florence was struck by one of the most spectacular fires in the city’s history. The hotel was hit by another costly fire Jan. 10, 1913. The University of Minnesota football team, on its way to the Pacific Coast for a football game, was routed from the hotel by the 1936 blaze.
