DAR Chapter Under Way After Delay
The Bitterroot Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized in Missoula April 19, 1919.
Miss Fanett Ewing began the movement with 12 charter members in attendance. Shortly thereafter charter members totaled 28. A movement was under way to form a chapter of the society in 1911 and 1912 by Mrs. Mabel K. Hall and Mrs. George P. Smith, but the actual organization did not take place until 1919. In this year there were enough women in Missoula who could prove descent from a war patriot of the American Revolution.

The first elected officers were Miss Ewing, regent; Mrs. R. A. Shannon, vice regent; Mrs. John Buckhouse, secretary, Mrs. W. P. Forbes, treasurer; Mrs. J. M. Swango, registrar, and Mrs. R. H.
