West Side Club Motto ‘Onward and Upward’

The first members of the West Side Club , known then as the West Side Women’s Club, paid 25 cents dues per year. They conducted their meetings according to Mrs. Fox’s Rules of Order and adopted the motto “Onward and Upward.”

The club was organized Nov 1, 1911, in the eighth grade room of the Lowell School. Mrs. John W. Reely was the first president of the club which consisted of about 30 charter members.

 

The current membership is 73. Officers are Mrs. Clinton C. Sloan, president; Mrs. Hettie Bedord, first vice president, Mrs. Vernon Gibson, second vice president; Mrs. A. E. White, recording secretary; Mrs. A. E. Buker, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Charlie E. Dow, treasurer.
