Tom Fung Funeral

The funeral of Tom Fung, the Chinaman who died yesterday in the Chinese quarters of this city, was held today from Hayes & Marsh’s undertaking establishment on Front street. The remains were interred in the old burial grounds across the Rattlesnake and were followed to their temporary resting place by only a few of his almond-eyed brethren.

Chinese Peddlers

Several Chinese peddlers of garden stuff were arrested this morning by Marshall Angevine on a charge of peddling without a license. They were brought before Justice Hayes for hearing but no time was set for their trial. As the law says that no license will be required from those who raise their greenstuffs in the city for the purpose of peddling them out in town it is probable that no trial will be had, except as to those who were selling for a Chinese firm in Seattle.
