Emil Nelson’s Great Big Eastern Brook Trout – Seeing Is Believing

Of Fish’s Size Nelson Has Best Proof To Offer

For several days anglers in Missoula have been hearing much concerning a GREAT BIG FISH caught by Emil Nelson of Bonner. The first report sounded so absurd that fishermen here refused to listen. But the statements began to come in from men of known veracity and became so numerous that Nelson was challenged to bring his fish to Missoula to prove the stories true.

Yesterday Nelson accepted this challenge. Better than the anglers had dared to hope for. Nelson had kept his specimen alive since hooking it several days ago. In a big washboiler he brought it to town. Those who had doubted before could not escape the real thing. There was the fish, beautiful specimen of eastern brook trout, stretched out in that boiler and so long that there was no room for him to turn around. It is the largest fish of the species local fishermen remember having seen. Nelson donated the beauty to the fountain aquarium of the city near the N.P. depot. There it can be viewed by all interested.
