Missoula American Legion Baseball – 1944 – From Sports Jabs by Ray T. Rocene

Commissioner J. Gus Nash will have two boys’ leagues, one playing in the mornings, another in the afternoons. Three sponsors have agreed to put teams into each circuit after organization is completed. The schedule will be announced by Sergeant R. B. Hay, American Legion baseball chief, within the next few days.

Here’s the statistical dope on the Missoula American Legion contenders in the state race for 1944 so far settled:

John Gus Nash, born at Livingston, Feb. 13, 1927; Arnold John Odegaard, born at Parkland Wash., May 8, 1927; William Wyman Andrus, born at Miles City, June 10, 1927; Robert Harold Nicol, born at Hamilton, August 15, 1927; Charles Raymond Herman Zottnick, born in Missoula, October 21, 1927, Jack Alfred Young, born at Denton, October 22, 1927; Gerald William Hayes, born in Missoula January 22, 1928; Charles James Kittell, born at San Diego, Cal., Feb. 20, 1928; John Floyd Eaheart, born at Billings, Feb. 21, 1928; Dennis Eugene Pleasant, born at Bonner, July 5, 1928; Robert Davis Cope, born at Havre, July 17, 1928: Roy Grant Malcolm, born at Fargo, N. D., July 21, 1928; John Adams Jourdonnais, born at Choteau, August 10, 1928; Thomas Roland Kingsford, born in Missoula Sept. 27, 1928.

Billy Nash is expected to play with this squad.

All of the boys born in 1928 will be eligible for another season in 1945.
