'Copper King' W. A. Clark gives speech in French at Frenchtown - 1892

E-mail Print PDF

Hon. W. A. Clark made a speech at Frenchtown Sunday, in which he pictured the terrors of the force bill. Mr. Clark, being able to speak in French, gave rein to his vigorous fancy, but the people of Frenchtown and vicinity are not alarmed to any great extent about the passage of a force bill, nor are the people of other portions of Montana.

The above article appeared in the Morning Missoulian on November 1, 1892. The Morning Missoulian was an avowed Republican newspaper. Clark was a Democrat. A critical topic of the November election in 1892 was the choice of a Montana Capital. Clark campaigned hard for Helena.
